Estimates only. These calculators are for education, not a loan estimate, tax bill, or legal advice. Your lender’s Loan Estimate, your closing agent’s settlement statement, and the St. Lucie County Property Appraiser are the final word. Figures are calculated in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How this is calculated

  • Doc stamps on the deed: 70 cents on each $100 or portion of the price, in every Florida county except Miami-Dade (Florida Dept. of Revenue). All parties to the document are liable for the tax, whichever party agrees to pay it.
  • Doc stamps on the note: 35 cents per $100 or portion of the loan amount (Florida Dept. of Revenue).
  • Intangible tax: 2 mills (0.2%) of the mortgage amount (Florida Dept. of Revenue).
  • Title insurance: Florida sets title premiums by rule. The original owner’s rate is $5.75 per $1,000 for the first $100,000 and $5.00 per $1,000 from $100,000 to $1 million (then $2.50 to $5 million), with a $100 minimum. A lender’s policy issued at the same time costs $25 if it doesn’t exceed the owner’s policy (Florida DFS, Rule 69O-186.003). Reissue rates, endorsements, and title agent fees are not included; ask your closing agent.
